I love making cupcakes and its been a while since I made any new cupcake tutorials for you, so when a few people suggested creating some cactus cupcakes I thought this would be perfect for this weeks video tutorial. I decided to create the toppers as fun colourful fondant models with a fiesta vibe.

The cactus’ sit on a bright striped background which really gives a party feel. I love how the stripes look and this technique would also be great for adding onto a cake board.
What really made these cupcakes come to life was the little white sprinkles. I used both small ball sprinkles and sugar sticks to make it look like the spikes on the cactus. I loved how this gave a cartoony feel to the cupcakes making them perfect for any age.

These cupcakes are perfect for any level of baking and would be great as a project for a beginner. The cactus’ are each made up of 3 balls of fondant, in various sizes, tapered down to give the shape of the individual plant.
