So back to this weeks tutorial. I was thinking about when you have something to celebrate and some people go to buy the foil balloons which come in numbers and letters, and I thought wouldn’t it be amazing if you could create small edible versions of these to go onto your cakes. So whether you want to add numbers, words or maybe names onto your cakes, I am going to show you how to make them look like mini foil balloons…
In the tutorial I created the work ‘YAY’ for the top of my 6 inch cake. I used the PME letter and number cookie sets which were a perfect size, measuring around 2 inches in height. But you could always print out a bold font in the size you need and use this as a template. I then used a variety of tools including my dresden tool to add lines to give it a pillow effect and make it look like its been blown up.
The letters really came to life once I added the gold lustre dusts. I used 3 different colours to make it look like the light was reflecting off of the foil. I love how these turned out and think they would also look so pretty in a silver or rose gold. They really are perfect to add to a party cake. Here’s me with a little 200K celebration cake!
I really hope you like the mini balloon cake toppers and if you would like to see exactly how I made them just click on the video below:
