If you follow me on Instagram (@CakesbyLynz) you may have seen a little while ago that I got this cute ‘Oh Honey Bee’ elements set from Sweet Stamp. I have been so excited to use it on a cake, so for this weeks video tutorial I thought I would make a bumble bee themed cake…

Now as well as using the Oh Honey Bee elements set I thought it would be perfect to continue the honeycomb theme and team this with the SweetStamp hexagonal Blank Canvas Cake topper. For this tutorial I picked quite a generic themed Bee inspired quote for the top, but I love that by just changing the words you could theme this for a birthday cake or a baby shower.

For the text on the cake topper I used the Classic and the Stylish sets of Sweet Stamp letters. If you have followed my tutorials or channel for a while you will know how much I love using the Sweet Stamp sets to add lettering onto my cakes. I also love how it looks when you combine 2 different sets together as it really makes it a focal point of the cake.

When designing this cake I didn’t want it to be one solid block of pastel yellow so by adding different shade of yellow and cream petal dusts around the honeycomb pattern it really brought out the texture of the cake and made it look less flat.
Now I know drip cakes are so popular at the moment and this cake was screaming out for some honey running down the sides of the cake and over the small hexagon shapes. Now if you are making this cake you could use real honey or maybe some yellow candy melts, but I decide to colour some piping gel with an ivory gel colour to look like honey. The reason I chose this meathod over the others was that it would still look like honey, but when piping gel has been left for a little while it starts to get a film over the top making it less sticky.
Below is the full video tutorial showing exactly how I made the whole cake. I really hope you will enjoy it and you find it helpful if you are thinking about using any of the sweetstamp products!!
