With just over a week to go until Halloween are you still looking for a fun cake idea? or maybe you know someone who just loves little monsters, maybe for a first birthday or a fun smash cake. For this weeks cake decorating tutorial I am so excited to share this step by step video showing how I made this cute little monster cake. For a monster I think he looks quite cute, and I love that he can be made in any colour you like…
For this cake I needed quite alot of buttercream with the fur on the outside, so using my vanilla buttercream recipe I multiplied it up and used:
800g Icing Sugar
400g Salted Butter
4 tbsp of milk
2 tbsp of vanilla flavouring
This cake really came to life when the buttercream fur was added to the outside. For this I used the 234 grass piping tip, this is a large piping tip with cutout circles at the end and is great for creating a hair like texture. The rest of his features, including this large eyeball on the front of his face, his mouth, arms and feet and these fun striped horns were all created with fondant.
I really hope you will find this tutorial useful and will enjoy making your own little monster creation. Plus if you haven’t already you can subscribe to my YouTube channel for more Free cake decorating video tutorials.
