This week it definitely feels like Autumn is here, the days seems to be getting shorter and it’s alot colder here in the UK. So inspired by this I thought this week I would show you how to make these really fun mini pumpkin themed cakes. Each cake is made using 2 cupcakes making them perfect as a little treat, or even as cake toppers on top of your Autumn themed cakes.
In the video you will see I unwrapped the cupcakes and sandwiched these together using some orange buttercream. I cover the cake in orange fondant and used my Dresden tool to add in the distinctive pumpkin shape, along with the stork at the top.
To bring the pumpkins to life I used a variety of coloured petal dust the highlight the shape and add shadow to the grooves.
Perfect for Halloween Treats
So whether you are looking for a small autumn themed treat or something fun for Halloween these are so easy to make and can be made in so many different colours. I created some orange and a green / white one. Just use a slightly darker shade of edible tint to the colour you used for the fondant to highlight the detail.
I really hope you will find this tutorial useful and will enjoy making your own mini pumpkins.
