With just over 2 weeks until Mother’s Day in the UK I thought it would be a great time to pipe some more buttercream flowers. So on this weeks video tutorial I’m going to be showing you how to make your cupcakes look like individual little bouquets of flowers, filled with roses, peonies, hydrangea and little flower buds. In the tutorial I show you how to pipe each of the flowers and what piping nozzles to use. You can see the tutorial here ⇩
I love these flowers as not only do they look great on cupcakes, but you could also add them onto larger cake too. Its also so easy to change how the flowers look just by changing the colour of your buttercream.
The Buttercream
For these cupcakes I’m using my American Buttercream recipe. One tip before piping the flowers is to use your spatula and push the buttercream against the side of your bowl, before adding it into your piping bags. This will push out any air bubbles in the buttercream and give you smooth looking flowers.

The Piping Nozzles
Now these cupcakes do require a few piping nozzles (I used a total of 6) but you can also pick and choose which flowers you want to add, maybe you only want to add roses or maybe you want to add them all. I think they look so pretty with all the flowers together and each cupcake really looks like a little bouquet, which would be perfect for Mother’s Day. Here’s a little breakdown of the piping nozzles.

I really hope you will find this tutorial useful and will be able to use it for your own cakes and cupcakes.
