Autumn / Fall Cake Tutorial – With Sweet Stamp

It’s officially Autumn in the UK so I thought it would be really fun to create an Autumn / Fall themed cake for this weeks tutorial. I love the colours of Autumn and all the fallen leaves so thought it would be fun to add these onto a cake.

In this tutorial I’m also using some of the Sweet Stamp Autumn collection, to add lettering, textures and create fun leaf shapes. If you like any of the products you can get a 10% off code for Sweet Stamp below.

The cake itself is a 6 inch cake which measures 6 inches in height to give enough space to add on the lettering and leave border onto the front. I then used a 10 inch cake board to give enough space around the edge to add a leaf design.

Sweet Stamp Autumn Collection

If you have followed me for a while you will know how much I love the Sweet Stamp letter sets for adding text onto cakes. In this tutorial I’m using the Maple letter set, which is perfect for Autumn. It includes upper and lower case letters and also numbers too. I also used the Autumn Leaves stencil, Lovely Leaves element set and the Hey Pumpkin Outboss Stamp to add extra design onto the cake. I love how versatile all these products are, and even though I used Autumn themed products they have such a great selection that there is always something for any themed cake.

Sweet Stamp have kindly given me a 10% off voucher code, for all of you, if you purchase from their website. That includes everything from the Autumn Collection (and there is so much), plus anything else you like on their website!

To receive the 10% off all you need to do is visit their website sweetstamp.online and enter the code ‘CAKESBYLYNZ’ at the checkout!

Mini Pumpkin Cake Toppers

One of my favourite parts of the cake is the mini pumpkins on the top. I mean what Autumn themed cake would be complete without pumpkins!

These are so easy to make but really added to the Autumnal feel. You will see in the tutorial they were created using an orange ball of fondant. I then added some grooves with my Dresden tool and popped a fondant stork on the top. I finished off the pumpkins by added some edible tint by Sugarflair to add a little more colour. This really helps bring the pumpkins to life.

How to create mini pumpkin cake toppers

There are so many techniques in this tutorial and I really wanted to show different ways you could use the tools to create different effects on your cakes. This included using the stencil to add a pattern around the edge of the text with edible paint. This stencil and all the stencils from Sweetstamp look great used to add a pattern around the side of your cakes, using buttercream or royal icing too, but this just gives you an alternative option.

You can find a tutorial showing how to use a stencil with buttercream here!

I really hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will be able to use some of the techniques on your own cakes or cupcakes.
