The finished Rudolph sits around 12cm in height and fits perfectly on top of this 5 inch cake. For the topper I used the Saracino ‘Pasta Model’ modelling paste. This was the first time I had made a full model out of it and I have to say I loved it!

I used both the white paste and coloured it in the light brown for the reindeers body and also used some of the pre coloured black, brown and red. It worked so well and the brown smells like chocolate. It stayed soft for ages and smoothed out really well when adding 2 pieces together. It then sets nice and firm after a few hours which meant I could add the head onto the body, without worrying it would squish down due to the weight of his head.

If you don’t have Saracino, in some of my other tutorials you may have see me combine fondant with gumpate, and this will also work great too.

I really hope you enjoy the tutorial. This was such a fun topper to make and in the tutorial I go through the exact weights of each of the pieces you’ll need to recreate him. He would look so perfect on top of a Christmas cake.
