With Easter just a few weeks away if you’re looking for inspiration, this week I’ve created a striped Easter inspired cake using some of the Sweet Stamp Easter products. I had so much fun creating this cake and how cute are the carrot cakesicles. I really hope you’ll find some of the techniques in this tutorial useful to use on your own cakes.

Sweet Stamp Easter Collection
A few weeks ago you may have seen on my Instagram page I received an amazing box, filled with some of the pieces from the Sweet Stamp Easter collection. For this tutorial I thought it would be really fun to use some of these bits to create this fun Easter inspired cake. In the video you’ll see everything that was included in the box, but for this tutorial I’m specifically using the unicorn horn mould for the carrots, one of the Easter ‘Stamp and Cut’ embossers to create the cake topper and the Easter Halo Sprinkles.
You’ll also see me use other items from Sweet Stamp including their mini black canvas, edible glue and spatulas from their NEW kitchen utensil range!
Sweet Stamp have kindly given me a 10% off voucher code for you to use. This can be used on any purchases made on their website. To receive the 10% off all you need to do is visit their website sweetstamp.online and enter the code CAKESBYLYNZ at the checkout!

The Cake
For this cake I’ve baked a 5 inch vanilla sponge cake. I actually used the recipe for my 6 inch cake to give me a slightly higher cake. You can find the recipe for my vanilla sponge cake here!
The cake is then covered in American buttercream. In the tutorial you’ll see I’m using blue gel colour to colour my buttercream. You might find when using blue that your buttercream can sometimes look a little green. This is due to the yellow in the buttercream mixing with the blue. In order to get a more true blue, add a little purple into your buttercream to cancel out the yellow tones.
Carrot Cakesicles
One of my favourite parts of this cake have to be the cute cartoon style carrot cakesicles. These look perfect added to a cake, but you could also make them as individual Easter treats too, or why not add them to your Easter treat boxes.

To create the cakesicles I used this mini unicorn horn mould by Sweet Stamp (get 10% off with my code CakesbyLynz). As soon as I saw it I knew it would work perfectly for cute little carrots. I filled the mould with a layer of candy melts coloured with some orange Colour Mill colouring, let this set and filled the inside with crumbled cake mixed with buttercream (there is nothing more yummy!). In the tutorial you’ll see I then used green candy melts to create the little leaves at the top to finish them off, before attaching them to the cake.

Easter Cake Topper
What Easter cake would be complete without a cute cake topper, and for this cake I used one of the Sweet Stamp Stamp ‘n’ Cut embossers. The great thing about these embossers is they come with a shaped cookie cutter which you can use to cut fondant or cookies. For this cake I didn’t need a cookie, so I added the fondant plaque onto a mini blank canvas to hold the topper in place on the cake.

To paint my topper I used the edible art paint by Sweet Sticks which is also available on the Sweet Stamp website. I love that it’s already pre mixed, so you can use the paint straight out of the bottle and it dries really quickly. If you don’t have edible paint you can mix your gel colours with a small amount of dipping solution or rejuvenator spirit. As the alcohol in the dipping solution evaporates this allows the paint to dry.

In the tutorial you can then watch me finish off the cake by piping some edible grass and adding some of the cute Easter halo Sprinkles which are also available from Sweet Stamp. You can also see how I made the stripes on the side of my cake too and pick up some tips and tricks for getting them nice and smooth.
I really hope you enjoy the video and I hope you’ll be able to use some of these techniques on your own cakes. If you haven’t already you can subscribe to my YouTube channel for more Free cake decorating video tutorials.
