Custom labels are an effective way to personalise your packaging and make it look more professional.

Using the Munbyn thermal printer to create custom labels is a game-changer for small businesses. So whether you’re packaging cakes, cupcakes, or edible treats let me show you a few examples of what you could do with the Munbyn thermal bluetooth printer.

What is a thermal printer and how does it work?

Firstly let me start by explaining what a thermal printer is and how it works. A thermal printer is a type of printer that uses heat to transfer your text onto the label paper, rather than using ink. The heat causes the coating on the paper to react and create your design, making it a highly efficient, ink-free printing method. So once you have the printer and your chosen labels that’s all you will ever need.

Step by step guide to printing your custom labels using Munbyn

The thing I love most about this printer is the fact that it uses bluetooth. You can also connect it via USB to your PC or Mac, but by using bluetooth this allow you to use it anywhere; including in your kitchen!

Tools I’m using

Munbyn RealWriter 130B bluetooth label printer
58mm scalloped rainbow sticker labels
4×6″ white shipping labels

Step 1: You’ll first need to download the Munbyn app to your phone or tablet and connect your printer. This is super easy, just turn on your bluetooth and search for the device.

Step 2: Decide what label you want to create and load these into your printer. You can then create your design from scratch or use on of the 1000’s of templates already loaded into the app. I’ve selected the create button at the bottom of the app. You can then scroll through the list of labels and find the one your using. I’ve selected the 58mm scalloped rainbow sticker labels.

Step 3: You can then design your labels right inside the app. Add in text, and select one of their many fonts. You can then change the spacing and size, and move the text around. There are also icons you can add. I’ve checked and there are some cake icons in case you were wondering. There are tables, barcodes, QR codes and so many more options. You can see that I even imported the Cakes by Lynz logo to my design.

Step 4: Once you’re happy with your label you can save the design for next time and press print. This gives you the option to preview your label; select the quantity you need and change the speed and density of the print. This can help if you have quite fine fonts as it makes them a little clearer.

Step 5: Then just press print and watch how fast your labels print. The Munbyn printer prints 1 label per second!

Step 6: Now all you have to do is peel off the label and place it onto your cake box.

How amazing do these scalloped rainbow stickers look with the black text! Because of the way the design is printed onto the label paper using heat, the print will always be black, but as well as these pretty rainbow stickers Munbyn also have so many other labels available including holographic, metallic silver, transparent, gold, glitter and watercolour, so there is definitely one to help you make the perfect packaging.

Create a range of labels using the Munbyn label printer

It’s so easy and fun to create labels using the Munbyn printer so why stop at just thank you labels. The possibilities on what you could create for your cake business are endless…

Custom ingredient labels

Depending on where you run your business, you may be required to add your ingredients to your cake packaging. It is so easy to create a template that you can edit for each cake that you make. This way you can print off a custom sticker for each order.

Custom cake care labels

What about custom care labels to attach to your packaging. Have you ever had someone pick up their cake and you have so much to tell them. How to load the cake into the car, how to look after the cakes once they get them home. Remind them to not leave their cakes in the sun or maybe how they should cut their cakes. Why not create a custom care label to add onto your cake box. This way they don’t have to remember what you said and you know they have all the information they need.

Here I’ve used the 4×6 inch white shipping labels. These are the perfect size for lots of information and address labels too if you post out your sweet treats! Plus you just peel them off and stick them on, no need to cut out your shipping labels and tape them to the box, saving you lots of time.

It’s a tool I wish I had when I was selling cakes. The ideas I have for enhancing packaging with the Munbyn Bluetooth thermal printer are endless.
